What happened
Dell’s fiscal 2026 annual report put headcount at about 97,000, down from about 108,000, with $569m of severance — down from $693m the year before. Infrastructure Solutions Group revenue, which covers servers and storage, rose 40%, and Dell expects AI-optimised server revenue to double in FY2027. Cuts landed first in sales, marketing and other support functions, then services and supply chain, then R&D.
Attribution and company response
Revenue held, staff cut. The published revenue comparison held or grew — $113.5bn in FY2026, up 18.8%. This clears the tracker’s revenue screen; it does not prove AI substitution, completed departures or the absence of financial pressure.

Fiscal dates differ between companies; compare the same season a year earlier.
Worker pay remains annual in the compensation table. Missing quarterly pay or headcount is not interpolated. This is financial-history coverage, not a complete assessment of who benefits.
Sources & limits
Revenue is not profit. These figures may cover different periods and do not isolate the effects of AI. Median pay includes more than salary and can change with workforce composition; it does not track raises for the same employees.
That AI performed the eliminated work, or that 11,000 people were laid off. The figure is a year-on-year headcount DECLINE that mixes involuntary layoffs with voluntary separations, attrition and hiring freezes — sources differ on the split. This is capital moving toward AI servers, not tasks transferring to AI.
CEO pay derived from median × ratio. A founder with a large equity holding draws little salary, so the ratio understates the economic position.
